Crews battle Calabasas Old Fire

Los Angeles County and L.A. city fire crews battled a large brush fire Saturday that threatened an estimated 3,000 homes and structures in theMulholland Highway vicinity of Calabasas.

What firefighters dubbed the Old Fire began at approximately 4 p.m. June 4 when a vehicle reportedly struck a power pole on Mulholland. Sparks ignited flames, which quickly spread, putting into danger Calabasas High School, Viewpoint School, Headwaters Corner and the city-owned Klubhouse Preschool. Homes in the Highlands, Eddingham and Adamsville neighborhoods were ordered to be evacuated. Continue reading here. Photos by Michael Coons/Acorn Newspapers

One person was injured in the fire and transported to a local hospital. It took 30 firefighters 35 minutes to knock down the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Operation Ready Ventura County 2014
