Crews battle Calabasas Old Fire

Los Angeles County and L.A. city fire crews battled a large brush fire Saturday that threatened an estimated 3,000 homes and structures in theMulholland Highway vicinity of Calabasas.

What firefighters dubbed the Old Fire began at approximately 4 p.m. June 4 when a vehicle reportedly struck a power pole on Mulholland. Sparks ignited flames, which quickly spread, putting into danger Calabasas High School, Viewpoint School, Headwaters Corner and the city-owned Klubhouse Preschool. West Coast Elite Dance Championship



IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers PASSIONATE MOVEMENT - Calabasas High School student dancers perform in the Elite group category at the West Coast Elite Dance regional dance competition at Westlake High School on Saturday, February 8. Over 300 dancers from 12 schools competed in groups and solos throughout the day, with the hopes of making it to the state championship.
